about

I wrote this in March 2013, after hearing the Bon Jovi concert of rock anthems and realizing I should be more hopeful in my songs. And what better topic to be hopeful about than my wife, Laura, of almost 28 years.

lyrics

B7-E intro
E E sus
We got to make time for each other
E E sus
Don’t let the world spoil our fun.
E E sus C#m
A thousand things will happen
F#m B7
To keep us on the run.
A
But if we hold together
C# C B A
And celebrate each day
E A
We’ll make time for one another
B7 E
And fill our lives with play.

E A
We’ve been together 30 years
E A
I hope it’s 30 more
E A
The first time I met you
B7
I was sure.
A
You laugh at all my silly jokes.
E
Well at least, at a few.
F#
You smile at the rest
B
Cause that’s just you being you.

Chorus

E A
You sit in your chair
E A
I sit and play guitar
E A
No matter what we do
B7
We don’t go far
A
You’ll tell me something from your book
E
And I’ll play a song or two.
F#
You always will support me
B
My thanks are overdue.

Chorus
E A
Days can be exhausting
E A
And pleasures seem so bare.
E A
When obligations make it hard
B7
to care.
A
That’s the time to take a walk
E
Or watch an old movie.
F#
Anything, as long as
B
It helps us to see (that…)

Chorus
Fade E A
